The customer requested the full restoration of her front porch. Several areas suffered from significant rot damage. First, all rot damaged boards and moulding were removed. Secondly, all remaining existing boards, rails, posts, and moulding were sanded down and prepared for paint. The overhead wood which had been accidentally previously painted along the edges in the past by owners was sanded down in order to remove all paint and prepare the surface for a new coat of stain. The existing green door was also sanded down and prepared for a new color of paint. The old rotted boards were then replaced with new primed pine boards. All new and previously existing joints were caulked and all nail & screw holes filled with wood filler to provide a flawless finish once painted. All rails, posts, boards and moulding then received 1 coat of exterior primer and 2 coats of white exterior paint. The overhead wood received 1 coat of a mahogany stain. Finally, the door received 3 coats of the owners' choice of blue paint to finish off an elegant front porch restoration.
